The Ministry of Transport and Public Works has officially handed over a former construction camp,
used during the construction of the Thyolo-Thekerani-Nsanje Road, to Thyolo District Council for community use.
Director of Roads in the ministry, Engineer Kelvin Mphonda, said the handover reflects the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring project infrastructure continues to benefit communities beyond implementation.
Receiving the facility, Senior Chief Khwetemule thanked the Ministry, saying the structures will help address infrastructure needs in the area.
The site includes two administration blocks, two warehouses, a cafeteria, and other supporting structures within a fenced compound.
Thyolo District Council Chairperson George Jailosi said the Council will develop plans for refurbishment and effective use of the facility to support service delivery in the district.
