Minister of Transport and Public Works, Hon. Jappie Mhango, M.P., has emphasized that the fuel levy remains essential, as it directly supports the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of roads across the country.
He noted that many roads have deteriorated due to three years of minimal maintenance, largely attributed to the non-collection of the road levy during that period.
However, the Minister assured the public that fuel prices are expected to decrease once the global fuel market stabilises.
Mhango made the remarks on Thursday in Lilongwe during a joint press briefing with Minister of Energy, Hon. Jean Mathanga, and Minister of Information, Hon. Shadric Namalomba, where they addressed the recent fuel price adjustment.
